Raw shungite by weight
Unworked stone, broken from the rock and sorted by size but not tumbled, polished or coated. Choose the piece size — small, medium, large or a mix — and the weight, from 300 g at €14,30 up to 2,1 kg at €64,70, in 100 g steps. The more you take the less each 100 g costs: about €4,77 per 100 g at 300 g, about €3,08 at 2,1 kg. Everything is weighed on a scale and bagged by hand.
Shungite stones for water
The 330 g bag of water stones (€17,00) is the most common first order, and it is sized for a standard 3-litre jug: for shungite water, roughly 100 g of stone per litre is the usual ratio. Rinse the stones under running water before first use until it runs clear, then rinse every couple of weeks. Raw stone is the form used for water because the fracture faces give it far more surface than a polished piece.
Raw shungite or tumbled shungite?
Same deposit, same stone. Raw pieces are matte and irregular, with the fracture faces still on them, and can shed a little dust in the first few rinses. Tumbled pieces have been turned with abrasive until the edges round off and the carbon takes a low sheen: cleaner to handle, easier to carry, and the form most people choose for a pocket, a desk or a windowsill.
Tumbled and polished shungite stones
- One tumbled stone — €1,70. About 50 g. A pocket piece.
- Tumbled stones 100 g — €7,10. A handful.
- Tumbled stones 200 g — €13,40.
- Polished stones 670 g — €35,90. The largest bag of polished stone we sell.
How much shungite do I need?
For water, about 100 g per litre, so 330 g for a jug and 500–600 g for a large dispenser. For a piece to keep on a desk or by a bed, one medium stone of 60–150 g does it. For a bowl or a shelf, the 600 g and 1 kg bags are where the price per 100 g starts to fall properly.
Is it real?
Real shungite conducts electricity — tap a phone screen with a piece and the screen responds as if to a finger — and it is light for its size and leaves a dark streak on unglazed porcelain. Painted stone and resin fail all three. The full test guide is here. Larger single pieces, photographed individually, are in the specimens collection.
