Shungite necklace: the torus pendant

Our shungite necklace is a torus pendant — a shungite pendant shaped as a polished disc with a hole through the centre, hung on a cord. The shape hangs flat against the chest instead of twisting, and the hole means no metal setting: it is stone and cord, nothing else. Two sizes. The small torus pendant is €12,50, about 10 g, and sits at the collarbone. The large torus pendant is €17,00 and is the one to choose if you want the stone to be seen. Same shungite in both; the large one simply has more of it.

Shungite bracelet

The shungite bracelet (€17,00) is strung from individually drilled shungite beads on elastic, so it stretches over the hand and needs no clasp. This is the category where fakes are most common, because a black-coated glass bead is cheap and looks identical in a photograph. Three things to check on any shungite bracelet, ours included: the beads should be matte-to-satin rather than glassy, they should feel light for their size, and a bead touched to a phone screen should register as a tap, because real shungite conducts. Shungite phone stickers

Can you wear shungite in water?

The stone is fine — it is rock, and raw shungite is used in water on purpose. The cord and the elastic are the weak points, so take the pendant and bracelet off before swimming and before a shower. Polished shungite dulls slowly with skin oils; a dry cloth brings the sheen back in a few seconds.
